What Is Resumix?

Resumix is a hiring tool that provides an advanced automated staffing and skills management solution to enable NASA to find and quickly identify the most qualified people to fill open positions. This tool incorporates the power, accessibility and reach of the web and the most sophisticated intelligent searching technology on the market.

Resumix's search technology utilizes a comprehensive skills database with over 25,000 skills that combine into more than 10 million matching combinations of search terms to help find the right candidates. The system's built in intelligence recognizes the contextual meaning of words within a resume by extracting relevant information with a high degree of accuracy.

How Does Resumix Work

Resumix offers a complete automated staffing solution that incorporates the power, accessibility and reach of the Web with the most sophisticated intelligent searching technology on the market. Resumix helps organizations save money and increase quality hires by managing and storing resumes from the Internet and providing the tools needed to assess the quality of the candidates faster than ever before.

Using the patented Resumix KnowledgeBase, applicants can be rated more accurately - far exceeding simple keyword searches. The system's built-in intelligence actually recognizes the contextual meaning of words within a resume by extracting relevant information with a high degree of accuracy.

In the past managers and human resource specialists have performed the job analysis, developed the crediting plan and level descriptions. This was a time consuming process. Under Resumix, managers and human resource specialists jointly develop a job search plan which identifies the required and desired skills for a particular position. It's a simplified form of job analysis. Required skills are skills that the applicants must possess in order to be referred for a position. Desired skills are skills that will make the applicant better able to perform the job.

The skills selected by the supervisor are matched against the skills of the applicants that applied under the vacancy announcement. This process is much quicker than the manual rating and ranking process. However, Resumix doesn't entirely replace the human element. Résumés are still manually reviewed to make sure that referred applicants meet job qualifications.

Applying for Resumix Positions

Resumix replaces traditional application forms, such as the SF-171, OF 612, KSA's and other supplemental forms with a simple resume. Applicants no longer complete a separate set of KSA's for each vacancy. They merely access a web-based Resume Builder, available on the USAJOBS site, and develop a comprehensive resume. NASA’s Applicant Guide provides detailed information on preparing a résumé that makes you competitive for NASA positions. Applicants then apply for vacancies using a link in the vacancy announcement. Applicants select the résumé they wish to submit, and answer a few short additional NASA-specific questions. The USAJOBS résumé can be used to apply for many Federal jobs, but it is important to remember that NASA limits résumé length to a maximum of six pages.
